Thunderbolt Marine Inc. is a full service yacht repair and refit
facility with a marina located twelve miles up the Wilmington River in
Thunderbolt, Georgia, just outside the city limits of Historic
Savannah. TMI is on the Intracoastal Waterway at Marker #35 (ICW Mile
#583). The relative quiet of this small town, the beauty of the marsh,
and the mild year-round temperatures make it an attractive destination
for the discerning yachtsman.
Founded in 1733, Savannah has a long and distinguished maritime history
as a bustling seaport and is well known for its Southern charm and
massive oaks draped in Spanish Moss. With its numerous national
landmarks and pristine barrier islands, it is a place of old world charm
and incredible beauty.
Historic downtown is only a few minutes
away by car, where a thriving
city market and riverfront offer nightlife, fine dining, antique shops
and art galleries catering to the sophisticate. A few miles to the
east, Tybee Island offers a retreat of sun, sand, surf and eclectic
beach eateries and shops. Throughout the area are numerous golf
courses, exclusive hotels and quaint bed & breakfast inns.
Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport and Signature Flight Support
(for private jets) enables convenient air travel. No overhead height
restrictions make TMI an easy approach by sea, and close proximity to
I-95 connects Savannah to the largest North/South freeway artery on the
east coast.

TMI
is an easy approach either through Wassaw Sound (with no overhead height
restrictions) and up the Wilmington River or through Savannah River
entrance and down the ICW (65ft overhead height restriction). There is a
mean river depth at low water of 12ft (3.7m). The basin in the yard
is dredged to 14ft (4.3m), has ample room to maneuver and can
accommodate vessels up to 200ft in length.
